The Ultimate guide to Diet during Travelling

Almost everyone can do an hour of workout in the gym. But following a healthy diet or lifestyle is the main challenge for most of us. It is only possible if you follow a sustainable diet or routine. Sometimes following a sustainable routine is also difficult especially when you are traveling. It is very difficult to follow the exact routine & quantified amount of food items during travel. But it can be managed up to an extent & also we can stop it from getting completely spoiled.

I love to travel & that is one of my areas of interest apart from Fitness. So here I am sharing a few tips & personal experiences which I follow when I travel.

-Carry your Protein: Whenever you travel the most neglected macro is protein. And if you are a vegetarian or Vegan then the chances of less protein intake are more. So, try to carry your protein powder which is very handy & also easy to consume. If you are out & hungry then just mix the protein powder with water & there you go.

-Never step out with an empty Stomach- Always have some food before stepping out or else you won't able to resist craving whenever you see any food outside. Which leads to eating more than usual. Most importantly never skip your meals, especially breakfast.

- Avoid Processed foods: As they are low in fiber, vitamins & minerals they do not maintain the satiety level as whole foods do. So always prefer whole foods over processed ones. If there is no option for whole foods then go for fruits.

-Be hydrated: Always carry a water bottle with you so that you are never dehydrated. As dehydration gives you a false sensation of hunger.

-Follow the Healthy Plate rule: When dining out during traveling follow the Healthy plate rule. Where 1/2 of the plate should have veggies, 1/4th of the plate should have protein & other 1/4th should contain carbohydrates & fats.

-Avoid Sugary Beverages: As they are high in calories they should be avoided else it will increase your overall calorie intake. Low-calorie drinks like diet coke can be taken as an alternative.

-Control your portion size: If you use to quantify the food items in your diet then you must be aware of the portion that you are consuming daily. So try to eyeball the portion size when you are eating out. Make sure that you should never overeat.

-Minimise Caffeine intake: Caffeine is a diuretic in nature, which makes you dehydrated. Dehydration gives you a false signal of hunger. Instead of it, you can carry green tea bags or herbal tea bags.

-Eating Mindfully: Last but most importantly you should eat mindfully. Eating mindfully does not mean I am asking to eat the same food items as mentioned in the diet chart. You can taste the local cuisine if you are traveling but shouldn't overeat.

So just keep the above things in your mind & you can easily achieve your goal while traveling.
